ART: Portraits

One of my hybrid dragon / humans. For some reason, designing these half dragons is one of life’s pleasures for me, to the point where I’ve filled my Dragonsoul trilogy with them. They are called the Carochii, the People of Air and Flame or simply The Kindred. They don’t feature hugely in the first novel (bar references to them), but they make up the vast majority of the other two books (or they will do, once they are written up!). This is how I envisioned a character named First, a Guardian Kindred whose job is similar to the Grail Knight. Coloured pencils. All rights belong to me.

I love messing around with things that aren’t usually messed around with, so here’s a cyberpunk elf. It was fun to stick hardware on something usually associated with tree hugging.

A digital portrait of a werewolf in mid-transformation. I usually do portraits in traditional media (coloured pencils or graphite), so I was quite pleased with how this turned out.

A portrait of another character of mine – this time from one of my fanfics: Where Darkness Resides, a Neverwinter Nights Hordes of the Underdark story. Jenalil ‘Jen’ Alloman is a half elven rogue / sorcerer.

I am also fond of Stargate, and Ronon from Stargate Atlantis is easily my favourite character. I’ve met Jason Momoa, and he signed this portrait for me (and is a real sweetie!).

Another Ronon / Jason portrait (yeah, I’m a bit of a fangirl!):

Very noble. I like the windswept look as though mighty forces are blowing from behind – which, of course, the face is too strong to acknowledge. Interestingly armoured neck – African style rings; beauty spots (sort of) on the chin; rosary (not quite) between upper and lower horns – this is quite a dude of the metaphysical realms.

  2. Thank you, Gerry! I had a lot of fun with this one, and it was influenced by a picture I saw of a beautiful (I think) Masai woman with neck rings – she looked so serene yet fierce, and I wanted to emulate that.

(I’ve added all my portraits to this page – I realised that if I didn’t group my work, I would have a million pages!)

Love these! I have seen them before of course on the cloud, but seeing them here bigger and better makes me realise what a talented girl you are!
