3. Stargate Universe
The third entry of the Stargate series moved away from the lightheartedness of the first two series and became more dark and mature, essentially becoming Battlestar Galactica meets Star Trek: Voyager. The series was about a group of humans working on Stargate Commands Icarus Base. When they are attacked by the Lucian Alliance, the surviving members dial the experimental ninth chevron of their Stargate and are flung across the universe into the Destiny, a ship that was once piloted by the Ancients. Unfortunately, they cannot travel back to Earth through the Stargate and must pilot the ship back home despite how long it will take. The final episode of the series had the crew programming the ship to run its FTL drive on auto-pilot. Since theres no way to know how long the journey would take, most of the crew put themselves into stasis pods so they would survive the journey. One of the pods has malfunctioned, however, and so Eli volunteers to stay awake while the crew sleeps. Unfortunately, life support could only be sustained for two weeks before it needed to be shut down, leaving the fate of Eli uncertain, not to mention the crew itself. Ill admit, Im being a little selfish with this entry. I do want to find out what happens to the crew of the Destiny. However, I would also want a comic book that would follow all aspects of the Stargate universe, including SG-1 and Atlantis. The franchise has essentially been shelved since the cancellation of Stargate: Universe, so I think a comic book series would be the perfect way to keep it going for the fans. In the show, former main characters would occasionally pop up to communicate with the Destinys crew. Keep that going. This is a great sci-fi franchise, lets not leave it in the dust just because SyFy doesnt feel like showing good programming anymore. Which brings me to my next entry...
