We'd need way stronger CPUs and GPUs. Also less power hungry at the same time.
With all the carbon stuff lately I'll be surprised if we'll be allowed to have personal PCs at all ol.

AI that is way advanced than what we have now and more common so it won't cost Devs a fortune to use. So not only it has to be developed so that it would also mimic human irl movement, it has to resemble human in many other ways. Otherwise, what's the point? Idle NPCs?

If it were like it is now you could probably force NPCs to give you free stuff and reward for things you haven't finished.

But most importantly, a non invasive brain waves reading device (or whatever you wanna call it). Just the idea of there being a device they can read our minds so easily is scary. Yes, here it is used for gaming. But what it actually means is that we'd need s device that once put on our heads would know everything. This is some scary shit tbh.

tech to only need to render specifically what our eyes are focusing on to save processing

That's wont be a full dive tho.
How do you want to immerse yourself while having reduced FOV?

Our IRL for is like more than two times higher than what we use in games. Rendering that is going to require a lot of processing power.
Lowering the FOV would feel really bad, and even if it was the case it wouldn't be a full dive. And we're talking about full dive so.

I know our peripheral FOV is not something we focus on often but we still use it and not having it would feel weird.

Thanks! You're right. "what we're focusing on" wasn't appropriate.

What we focus on just needs to be rendered with the highest fidelity. The rest of the fov should be rendered, but can be rendered with lower fidelity to mimic the differences between things hitting the fovea and those not, and even lower at our normal periphery. It would be the things outside our normal fov that doesn't need be rendered.

Separately, if we did have AI that was good enough, how would it have to be trained? As much real world footage as possible, every recorded roleplaying session we have like D&D so it still see human interaction but limited to games, or just look at all the video games we've made and mimic game things?

(or just full dive tv shows???)
